Blackjack – The Object of the Game

The object of the game of Blackjack is to beat the house. When you play in an online casino it is just you against the house, but if you play in a live setting then there could be other players seated next to you. If this is the case please remember that you are still playing against the house. The only time you compete against opponents is when playing in a Blackjack tournament.

Don’t be fooled into believing that other player’s actions affects our play. Sometimes it benefits us and sometimes it harms us, but over the long run it evens itself out.

The dealer will deal everyone two cards before eventually doing likewise. The big advantage that the dealer has is only one of their cards is exposed. This is known as the dealers up card.

The players then take it in turn to play their hand. You can either hit, stand, double or split dependant on what combination of cards that you have. Your objective is to create a total that comes to 21, or closer to it than the dealer. If you exceed 21 then you bust and lose your bet. If the dealer exceeds 21 then they bust and you win the bet.

So to bring it down to basics: don’t bust over 21 and just have a total amount that’s closer to 21 than the dealer.
